Heart of the Undying Phoenix, aka HOTUP, is a talisman with a spirit all its own. Of all the wire wraps I've ever created, this is what I would consider my current masterpiece. Packed full of some of the best specimens I've had the pleasure of adopting, HOTUP is a show stopper in any setting.
Rarely do I ever pre-design a talisman. Instead, I tend to let intuition take over and dance along with the muse. HOTUP was no different, in fact over the nearly 20 hours this wrap took to make, I never wanted to put it down. Upon completing it and taking a moment to really look at this talisman as a new energetic organism, the name Heart of the Undying Phoenix just came to me. Something about the shape and almost multi-chambered aesthetic reminded me of both a heart and feather at the same time. The fire and flash of the opals, combined with the pristine gem-quality of the beryls, and the gorgeous vibrance of the quartz in both day and blacklight, all pulled me back to the phoenix. While it's full name is Heart of the Undying Phoenix, the name HOTUP is what it truly calls too, a name that feels both ancient and ascendent.
